Zoom Birthday Party |
Birthday celebrations on the road have been hard. But this year during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have learned to appreciate celebrations with family even more. Our niece celebrated her 17th birthday and our nephew, celebration above, celebrated his 16th. Our niece, nephew, daughter and teacher friends have all had to learn how to reinvent traditional education as we know it. They have had to go online, work remotely and figure out how to adapt to our new normal.
Zoom birthdays are the norm. Birthday parades are in and scheduling family time on a computer has become a way of life.
After beginning our travels, we knew that not seeing our family as regularly as we did before was going to be hard but we knew that we could get together and meet up for Christmas as we did with my parents in Florida or spring break for our daughter, Lauren, when the reality of the pandemic fell upon us. Everything was new, uncharted and our stress levels went through the roof because of the unknowing.
Now we are shopping in a new way, interacting differently socially with people we meet. Longing for the time when we can go back to the way things were. But can we? Or do we have to create yet another new normal?
